Perplexity AI Expert Advisor Fellow

The AI Expert Advisor Fellows program puts Perplexity Computer to work inside real small businesses, run by you.

You'll source local businesses, identify their pain points, build the workflows that fix them, and hand off something that keeps working after you're gone. Real forward-deployed work, not a case study.

The technology is the floor. What makes a great Fellow is the human side: the ability to teach, build trust, and make someone else self-sufficient.

What you'll actually do

You'll run a set of small businesses through the same arc.

Over roughly six weeks, part-time.

Who we're looking for

Fluent with AI. Even better with people.

We're recruiting from our Campus Ambassador community. The best Fellows combine real comfort with AI tools and genuinely strong people skills, because this job is as much about teaching and trust as it is about technology. You do not need to be technical. You won't be writing code. But you should be genuinely fluent with AI tools — that's the floor. What makes a great Fellow is the human side: the ability to teach, build trust, and make someone else self-sufficient.

You should already be

  • A current undergrad, or a recent grad
  • Hands-on with agentic AI tools — you've experimented with building or automating something with Computer, Codex, Cowork, Cursor, or similar. You know how to prompt and take action, not just chat.
  • Loosely proficient with everyday computer-like tools and comfortable picking up new software quickly

What sets the best Fellows apart

  • Communication and teaching instinct — you can explain a tool to a non-technical business owner without jargon and get them to actually use it
  • Empathy and trust-building — you read what an owner really needs, stay patient, and leave them feeling capable
  • Self-direction and hustle — you'll source your own businesses and run your own engagements without hand-holding
  • High accountability — you own your outcomes, follow through on commitments to your businesses, and can be trusted to deliver without being chased
  • Business curiosity — you're interested in how a small business actually runs and where it loses time and money
  • Resilience — you can handle a "no," messy data, and skeptical owners, and keep going

FAQ

The details.

Do I need to be technical?
No, you won't write code. But you should already be comfortable using AI and agentic tools like Computer, and able to learn new software quickly. The skills that matter most are communication, teaching, and building trust with owners.
Can this lead to a job at Perplexity?
It can. The program is designed to surface people who are great at exactly the kind of work we value. There's no guarantee, but Fellows who stand out are strong candidates for full-time roles, and you'll finish with the experience, credential, and results to back it up.
Is it paid?
Yes. Fellows are paid $3,000 total for the ~6-week program, plus Perplexity Computer credits to use throughout.
Is it remote?
Training is remote. The work with businesses is local to you, and we expect at least some of it to be in person, face-to-face.
How much time does the training take?
The remote bootcamp is short — roughly two half-day sessions over about a week, plus a separate certification slot. It's designed to fit around a student schedule, not take over your week.
How much time does the whole program take?
Plan for a part-time commitment over ~6 weeks. It flexes around your schedule since you manage your own engagements.
What kinds of businesses will I work with?
Local small businesses with clear, tangible back-office problems make the best candidates — think home and professional services, retail, food, and e-commerce. You'll source ones that fit.
What do I get at the end?
A certification you can put on your resume and LinkedIn, a portfolio of real results, Computer credits, and experience that stands out to employers.
